A Storyteller’s Life

John Stephen Webb was born on July 15th, 1963, in Portland, OR to Waunita “Ginny” Pauline (Stephens) Webb and William Carem Webb. He was brother to Randall, Diana Louise, and Kathleen.

John was raised in Aloha and Helvetia and attended Portland CC Sylvania until the opportunity of joining the world of television production came along – allowing John to live his dream at the age of 20. While at TV49 “Home of the Stars” John met Stephany Hale, later marrying in 1996.

Following his time at Portland Channel TV49, John helped produce the award winning TV series Fishing The West before spending time in the TV industry in Manhattan in 1991. Upon return to Oregon, John entered the world of corporate film production, first for Rex Recording and Video Post, then Fusion, and later Flir.

An award winning filmmaker, John produced The Half-Life of Genius: Physicist Raemer Schreiber (Winner, 2018 Oregon Documentary Film Festival) and Labor of Love: A St. Patrick’s Day Special (2021) and Golden Cornucopia (2023).

John produced over 225 video projects as Media Manager for Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation from 2020-2024, finding great reward in making a difference for those in need.

John loved his furry and feathered family members Smudgie, Reggie, Princess Beulah, and many others. What made John most happy was making connections with kindred spirits via radio waves and technical sophistication as well as spending time with family, particularly his partner Patti Villaseñor.

John lost his life far too suddenly and much too soon. John’s family, friends, and Lions Club members throughout Oregon will love and remember him always, and are grateful that his legacy lives on in film and will always be close to our hearts.
